Our lab takes a multi-omics approach to understanding immunogenetics and pharmacogenetics in advanced lung disease and lung transplantation.
Specifically, we focus on how genetic differences affect response to immunosuppression agents, how immunosuppression agents exert selective genetic pressure to drive genetic and epigenetic changes, and how genotoxic stress drive aberrant immune responses, particularly in the adaptive immune response.
We exist at the intersection of cellular & molecular biology and computational biology. We harness cutting edge technical modalities including spectral cytometry and mass cytometry, target next generation DNA/RNA sequencing, genetic engineering (TALEN/CRISPR), fluorescent and confocal microscopy and cellular/molecular biology and biochemistry techniques (cell/tissue culture, ELISA, Western blotting, PCR, qPCR, etc).
Our overall goal is to understand how genetics influences mechanisms of immune tolerance, identify novel targets for immunosuppression and develop precision approaches to immunosuppression management.
